How to Renew Your EV Bluebook in Nepal

Every vehicle in Nepal needs annual bluebook renewal. EVs have lower fees than petrol vehicles, but you still need to do it on time. Here's how.

EV bluebook renewal is based on motor power (kW):

Don't wait! Fines add up quickly:

For example, if your renewal is Rs. 15,000 and you're 4 months late, you'll pay Rs. 15,000 + Rs. 7,500 = Rs. 22,500.

Gather these documents:

1. Original bluebook
2. Vehicle registration certificate
3. Citizenship or company documents (for company vehicles)
4. Insurance certificate (third party minimum)
5. Previous year's renewal receipt

Step 1: Get Insurance Buy or renew your vehicle insurance. Third-party insurance is mandatory. Many insurance companies offer this for Rs. 3,000-5,000 annually for EVs.

Step 2: Visit Transport Office Go to your local Yatayat Karyalaya (Transport Office). In Kathmandu, the main office is in Ekantakuna.

Step 3: Fill the Form Get the renewal form from the counter. Fill in vehicle details and your information.

Step 4: Pay the Fee Pay at the designated bank counter (usually inside or near the office). Keep the receipt.

Step 5: Get the Stamp Submit your documents and receipt. The office will stamp your bluebook with the new validity date.

Some provinces are introducing online renewal. Check the Transport Management Office website for your province. The process is:

1. Create an account
2. Enter vehicle details
3. Pay online
4. Get sticker by post or collect from office

• Renew 1-2 months before expiry to avoid queues
• Early morning visits are less crowded
• Keep a photocopy of your bluebook
• Set a calendar reminder for next year
