Electric car FAQ

Nepal electric car prices, import tax, bluebook renewal, charging and buying. Answers follow published FY 2083/84 rules and listed prices.

For FY 2083/84, passenger EVs pay 20% Customs Duty, a CIF-value-based Clean Infrastructure Investment Fee, 5% Road Development Fund (RDF), and 13% VAT. Motor power no longer selects the import-tax band. Use our Import Tax Calculator to estimate a model or calculate from a known CIF value.

Yes, but it is significantly lower than petrol/diesel cars. Bagmati and Koshi use motor-power bands; Madhesh now uses vehicle-value bands. Bagmati's FY 2083/84 rates run from Rs. 6,500 to Rs. 30,000 per year. Use our Bluebook tool to estimate your liability.

The map lists published charging locations across Nepal, including NEA, BYD, Tata, and CG Motors. A pin is not a live availability check. See the charging map.

For home charging, it costs standard electricity rates (approx Rs. 8-10 per unit). Fast charging options (DC) at stations are slightly higher, typically Rs. 15-20 per unit. A full charge for a 40kWh battery might cost Rs. 400 at home vs Rs. 800 at a fast charger.

Current choices under 30 Lakhs include the MG Comet, BAW Brumby and E7 Pro, Wuling Air EV, Tata Tiago EV, and Proton e.MAS 5 Prime. See the EV price list for the latest list and filter by budget.

Several current listings exceed 500 km on their published test cycle, including the Mahindra BE 6, Avatr 11, Hyundai IONIQ 9, BYD Seal, and Deepal E07. ARAI/MIDC, NEDC, CLTC, and WLTP figures are not directly comparable; Nepal terrain and driving style will reduce real-world range.

Tesla does not currently have an official Nepal distributor, published local price list, or service network represented in our September 2026 catalogue. Parallel-import stock may appear, so verify warranty, charging compatibility, and service support before purchase.

The September 2026 price list runs from about Rs. 28.99 Lakhs for the Tiago EV Pure +24 to Rs. 58.99 Lakhs for the Curvv EV Empowered+ A 55. Offers can change, so check the EV price list and confirm a quote with Sipradi.

No. Passenger EVs still pay 20% customs, a CIF-based Clean Infrastructure Investment Fee (2.5% to 130%), 5% RDF, and 13% VAT. Petrol cars are taxed higher. The Import Tax Calculator uses the FY 2083/84 bands.

EV Bluebook renewal fees are usually lower than those for petrol cars. For a 100 kW EV, expect roughly Rs. 15,000–20,000 per year, depending on the province. Use Annual Tax & Renewal for an estimate.

Yes. A two-wheeler licence is required for electric scooters registered with a number plate. Low-speed electric bicycles may be exempt.
